Create a Raised Heel Gable

Purpose

Create a raised heel gable using sheathing. Note that while you can place diagonal webbing to address raised heel gable and "ladder" floor trusses, an alternative solution is to use sheathing in the end panels. See the ICS Technical Note: Raised Heel Gables for detailed information.

Prerequisites

An existing truss or layout

Steps

To create a raised heel gable:

1.  From the Truss - Design view, click Gable. From the Truss - Layout view, select Gable from the Truss Modifications menu.

The Gable window opens.

2.  Under the Sheathing options, indicate whether one or both faces of the truss should be sheathed and specify the material type, size, and extents. You can also choose to display hatching and specify line width and distance between lines.

When Show Hatching is selected, hatching displays on-screen. Note that Line Thickness does not change the line weight on screen; the changes are reflected only on the output. The Distance Between Lines is reflected on-screen.

3.  Click Apply or OK to save changes.

Sheathing requirements display on the Truss Design Drawing. An example is shown below.
